Stir-Fried Cabbage with Fried Tofu
Stir-fried cabbage with fried tofu is a flavorful and satisfying dish that's easy to prepare.
Ingredients
For the Stir-Fry
- 1piecesmall head of cabbage, shredded or chopped
- 1block firm tofu, cubed
- 2tbspvegetable oil
- 2clovegarlic, minced
- 1tbspginger, minced
- 1piececarrot, julienned (optional)
- 1piecebell pepper, sliced (optional)
- 2piecegreen onions, chopped
- 2tbspsoy sauce
- 1tbspoyster sauce (or hoisin sauce for a vegetarian option)
- 1tspsesame oil (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
For the Fried Tofu
- 1block firm tofu, drained and cubed
- 2tbspvegetable oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
How to make Stir-Fried Cabbage with Fried Tofu
Prepare the Fried Tofu
Pat the tofu dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat.
Add the tofu cubes and cook until all sides are golden brown and crispy. Season with salt and pepper.
Remove tofu from the skillet and set aside.
Stir-Fry the Vegetables
In the same skillet, add a bit more oil if needed. Heat over medium-high heat.
Sauté the garlic and ginger until fragrant.
Add the shredded cabbage, carrot, and bell pepper (if using). Stir-fry for about 5-7 minutes until the cabbage is tender-crisp.
Combine Everything
Return the fried tofu to the skillet.
Add soy sauce, oyster sauce, and sesame oil. Stir well to coat everything evenly and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper as needed.
Serve
Garnish with chopped green onions.
Serve hot with steamed rice or noodles.
