Dhokla Batter

  • 1cup
    Chana dal
  • 1cup
    Rice
  • 1tsp
    Eno powder
  • 1/2tsp
    Turmeric powder
  • 1tsp
    Ginger & Chilli paste
  • 1tbsp
    Oil
  • 1tsp
    Salt

Tadka

  • 1tbsp
    Oil
  • 1 1/2tsp
    Mustard seeds
  • 2piece
    Green Chilli
  • 1bundle
    Curry leaves
  • 1tsp
    Sugar
  • 1/2
    lemon Lemon juice
  • 1/2cup
    Water
  • 1bundle
    Coriander leaves for garnish

How to make Dal Rice Dhokla

Prepare the Dhokla Batter

  1. Soak the chana dal and rice in water for a few hours or overnight.

  2. Drain the soaked dal and rice, then blend them into a smooth batter.

  3. Add salt, turmeric powder, ginger & chilli paste, and oil to the batter. Mix well.

  4. Just before steaming, add Eno powder to the batter and mix gently.

Steam the Dhokla

  1. Pour the batter into a greased steaming tray.

  2. Steam for about 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.

Prepare the Tadka

  1. In a pan, heat oil and add mustard seeds. Let them splutter.

  2. Add green chillies and curry leaves, and sauté for a minute.

  3. Add sugar, salt, lemon juice, and water. Bring to a boil.

Serve

  1. Cut the steamed dhokla into pieces and pour the tadka over it.

  2. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve warm.
