South African Styled Beef Mince Lasagna
A flavorful lasagna made with seasoned beef mince, a homemade white sauce, and layers of lasagna sheets, topped with grated cheese.
Ingredients
Beef Mince Filling
- 1lbbeef mince
- 1pieceonion, finely chopped
- 1sprigthyme
- 1tbspginger and garlic paste
- 1tspgarlic powder
- 1tsponion powder
- 1tspblack pepper
- 1tspsalt
- 2piecetomato, grated
- 1cantomato puree
- 1/2tspsugar (optional)
White Sauce
- 2stick butter, melted
- 2tbspflour
- 2 1/2cupmilk
- 1tspgarlic powder
- 1tsponion powder
- 1tspsalt
- 1tspblack pepper
Assembly
- 1package lasagna sheets
- 2cupgrated cheese
How to make South African Styled Beef Mince Lasagna
Beef Mince Filling
In a frying pan, heat oil.
Add onions, thyme, ginger, and garlic paste. Allow to simmer for 3 minutes.
Add mince and cook for 10 minutes, turning every 5 minutes. Allowing water to dry.
Add garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and salt to taste. Stir and simmer for 5 minutes.
Add grated tomatoes and canned tomato puree. If too sour, add sugar.
Cook for 15 minutes on low heat. Set aside to cool down.
White Sauce
In a heated pan, add butter and allow to melt.
Add flour and stir with a hand whisk to prevent sticking and lumps.
Add milk and stir continuously until desired texture is achieved.
Add garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Set aside.
Assembly
In an oven tray, place lasagna sheets followed by cooked mince and white sauce. Repeat the procedure 2 more times.
Place in a preheated oven at 180°C and bake for 15 minutes.
Remove from oven, top with grated cheese, and bake for a further 10 minutes.
Tips & Tricks
Soak lasagna sheets in hot water before starting to make them easier to handle.
