Mandazi Mini Bites  recipe

Ingredients

10 Servings
(1 serving = 25gms )
  • 4cups
    all-purpose wheat flour!
  • 1/2
    Tblspn baking powder
  • 2 1/2
    Tblspn sugar(white sugar)
  • 2 1/2
    Tblspn salted butter(margarine)
  • 1/4
    Tspn cardamoms
  • 1/8
    tspn salt
  • 1
    egg
  • 1/2cup
    warm milk (for lactose intolerants replace this with coconut or almond milk)
  • 3L
    oil for deep frying

How to make Mandazi Mini Bites

  1. Mix all the dry ingredients in a bowl

  2. Add butter and rub till its all crumbly

  3. Add egg and mix

  4. Add milk bit by bit until you get the right dough consistency

  5. Work the dough for at least 2 mins and cover it with a clear paper wrap, let it rest for 10-15 Minutes

  6. Preheat the oil to 190 -200 degrees celcius.

  7. Roll out the dough to 0.6'' thickness.

  8. Using the pizza wheel cutter, cut the rolled-out dough into 0.5" square equal sizes (the smaller they are, the crunchier they get .if you do not want them very crunchy you can increase the size to 1" square)

  9. Deep fry them turning them till golden brown, use patching paper to drain extra oil.

  10. Once its cooled down put them in a bowl and serve as an evening lazy snack. or any other time that you prefer, this has no rules whatsoever!

  1. To achieve an equal thickness size while cutting, I use the handle of the tablespoon as a cutting-edge ruler. Let me know what trick you have used on this I would love to try it too.
