- 4cups- all-purpose flour
- 1cup- (2 sticks) cold unsalted butter
- 1tsp- salt
- 1/4cup- ice-cold water (add more if needed)
- For the Filling:
- 1lb- ground beef or chicken
- 1- medium onion
- finely chopped
- 2- green bell pepper
- 1- large carrot
- diced
- 2tbsp- vegetable oil
- 1tbsp- flour (to thicken filling)
- - Salt and pepper
- to taste
- For egg wash:
- 1- egg beaten

How to make How to make Meat pie
Step 1: Make the Crust
- In a large bowl, combine the flour and salt.
- Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Slowly add the cold water a little at a time, kneading lightly until a dough forms. Be careful not to over work the dough
- Cover and let the dough rest for 30- 45mins.
Step 2: Prepare the Filling
- Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the diced onions and sauté until brown
- Add the ground beef or chicken and cook until browned.
- Add the chopped carrot, green bell pepper, pepper and salt to taste. Stir well to combine
- Mix the tablespoon of flour to thicken the filling, then set aside to cool.
Step 3: Assemble the Meat Pie
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface
- Cut out circle using a round cutter or bowl
- Place a spoonful of filling onto one side of the circle, leaving space around the edges
- Fold the dough over to cover the filling and seal the edges with a fork.
- Place the meat pies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, brush with the beaten egg for a golden crust
Step 4: Bake
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Let it cool for 10-15 minutes before serving.
