Ingredients

2 Servings
(1 serving = 1 bowl)
  • 250g
    Sweet potato
  • Enough water to boil sweet potato
  • 1/2tbsp
    Ghee
  • 1tsp
    Cumin seeds
  • 1
    Green chillies
  • Few curry leaves
  • 1/4cup
    Roasted crushed peanut
  • pinch
    of rock salt / senda namak
  • Coriander leaves to garnish

How to make Sweet Potato Upma

  1. Pressure cook washed sweet potatoes for 1 whistle.

  2. Let it cool down naturally and remove the peels. Chop the boiled sweet potato roughly.

  3. In a wok , heat ghee, crackle some cumin seeds, green chillies and curry leaves.

  4. Add boiled sweet potatoes, pinch of senda namak and roasted crushed peanuts. Mix well.

  5. Switch off the flame and garnish with coriander leaves. Serve hot.

Tips & Tricks

  1. Use sweet potatoes which are thinner in size as they are sweeter and juicy than larger ones.

  2. A pinch of amchur (dry mango powder) or lemon juice at the end will add tanginess to complement the sweetness.

  3. Sweet potato sabji goes well with poori, roti, or even rice, depending on your preference. You can serve it as a part of a Navratri fasting meal as well.
