Ingredients
- 1cupRice
- 1/2cupsplit yellow moong dal
- 1tbspOil
- 1tspMustard seeds
- 1tbspGinger garlic crushed
- 2Slit green chillies
- 1Sliced onion
- 1Tomato cubes medium size
- 1tspTurmeric powder
- 1tspSalt
- 2 1/2cupWater
- Ghee while serving
- Coriander leaves to garnish
- Few curry leaves
- 1Potato fingers medium size
How to make Instant Khichdi Bhat Recipe
Wash rice dal together and keep aside. No need to soak because it's an instant Khichdi
Heat oil in a pot and to this add mustard seeds and some curry leaves . Once curry leaves flutter add crushed ginger garlic. Saute well.
Next add onion and tomato. Mix well just saute for 1 min
Then add potato fingers with turmeric and salt . Saute for a min
Add rice dal mixture with 2.5 cups water. Mix and cover with lid. Simmer for 8 -10 min. Check on water in between to avoid sticking at the bottom. Splash few spoons of water if required.
Once dal rice cooks , switch off the flame keep the lid open and let it settle for few minutes. Mix with spatula after 10 min. Serve hot with papad and pickle.

Make sure dal rice is properly washed
You don't need any other veggies on this khichdi it's simple healthy and quick version. Give it a try.
Check on water in between to avoid sticking at the bottom. Splash few spoons of water if required.
Don't mix immediately after cooking. Allow it to settle for few minutes. Mixing immediately might make the khichdi mushy.
