How to make Wheat Puttu / Gothambu Puttu
Add flour and salt to a bowl and mix well.
Boil the water with sugar until it vigorously boils, then turn off the flame.
Pour the boiling water into the flour and mix with a spatula. Close it for 2 minutes until completely cooled.
Add 3-4 tbsp of the wet flour to a mixer jar or food processor, add 2 tsp of dry wheat flour, and pulse a couple of times to remove lumps and form soft puttu. Repeat until the dough is finished.
Fill water in the bottom pot of the puttu gadget and heat it up.
Take the funnel of the puttu gadget, drop the holed disc inside, and start layering. First, add 3/4 tbsp of grated coconut, followed by puttu mixture until the middle of the funnel. Add grated coconut, followed by puttu mixture, and finish with grated coconut on top.
Place the funnel over the pot and cook for 3-4 minutes until steam comes out from the top of the funnel.
Use a spatula or stick to push the disc so the puttu comes out from the funnel. Serve hot with your favorite side dish.
Tips & Tricks
