Ingredients

  • 1cup
    broken wheat
  • 1piece
    onion
  • 2piece
    green chilly
  • 1in
    ginger
  • 1piece
    carrot
  • 1sprig
    curry leaves
  • 1/2tsp
    mustard
  • 2tbsp
    oil
  • salt to taste

How to make Broken Wheat Upma

  1. Wash the wheat and soak it for 20 minutes. Drain well.

  2. Heat 1 tbsp oil in a pan and roast the wheat for 3 minutes.

  3. Put a pressure cooker on the stove and add the roasted wheat. Add 1 1/2 cups of water and salt.

  4. Close the lid and cook until 3 whistles on medium flame.

  5. When the pressure is completely gone, open the lid.

  6. Heat a kadai and add 1 tbsp of oil. Add ginger pieces, green chilly, carrot, curry leaves, and sliced onion. Sauté until transparent.

  7. Add the cooked wheat to this mixture and mix well. Switch off the flame.
