A delicious homemade pull-apart garlic bread with a buttery garlic filling, perfect for sharing.
Ingredients
Dough
- 1cupfresh milk
- 1piecelarge egg
- 3tbspsugar
- 2tspinstant yeast
- 2 1/2cupsall-purpose flour
- 1/2tspsalt
- 2tbspbutter or margarine
Filling
- 1/2cupunsalted butter
- 1 1/2tbspminced garlic
- 1tbspparsley
- 1tspsugar
How to make Pull-Apart Garlic Bread
Activate Yeast
In a small bowl, combine warm milk and sugar. Stir to dissolve.
Add instant yeast and stir gently.
Let the mixture sit for 10 minutes, or until it becomes frothy.
Mix Dough
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, salt, and yeast mixture.
Add egg and butter/margarine, and mix until a shaggy dough forms.
Knead the dough for 10 minutes, until it becomes smooth and elastic.
Proof Dough
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with plastic wrap or a damp cloth.
Let the dough rise in a warm, draft-free place for about 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.
Prepare Filling
Mix softened butter, minced garlic, parsley, and sugar in a small bowl.
Assemble and Proof
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
Punch down the dough, spread and roll out, and slightly flatten.
Coat the flat dough evenly with the garlic butter mixture and roll up.
Cut the rolled coated dough into 1-inch pieces and arrange in a greased loaf pan.
Cover the pan with plastic wrap or a damp cloth.
Let the dough rise for another 45 minutes, or until it has doubled in size the brush dough with egg wash after it has doubled in size
Bake
Bake the garlic bread in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.
Cool and Serve
Remove the garlic bread from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 5 minutes.
Transfer the bread to a wire rack or tray to cool completely.
Serve warm, pulling apart the individual bread balls.

Adjust the amount of garlic to your liking.
Add some dried herbs like thyme or rosemary to the garlic butter mixture for extra taste.
You can use different types of cheese like parmesan or mozzarella in the garlic butter mixture for a more cheesy taste.
