- 1 1/2cupssugar
- 2piecelarge eggs
- 1/4cupoil
- 2 1/2tbspunsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 1/2tbspred food coloring
- 2tspvanilla extract
- 1tbspwhite vinegar
- 2 1/2cupsall-purpose flour
- 1tspbaking soda
- 1tspsalt
- 1cupbuttermilk
Cream Cheese Frosting
- 8ozcream cheese, softened
- 2cupspowdered sugar
- 1tspvanilla extract
- 2tbsplemon juice (optional)
How to make Yummy Delicious Naija Red Velvet Cake
Cake
Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C).
In a large mixing bowl, combine sugar, eggs, oil, cocoa powder, red food coloring, and vanilla extract.
In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, alternating with buttermilk, beginning and ending with dry ingredients.
Pour batter into two 8-inch cake pans and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Let cool completely before frosting with cream cheese frosting.
Cream Cheese Frosting
Beat cream cheese until smooth.
Gradually add powdered sugar, beating until smooth and creamy.
Beat in vanilla extract and lemon juice (if using).
Use to frost cooled cake.
