How to make Rich Pound Cake
Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C). Grease and flour a 10-inch (25 cm) tube or bundt pan.
In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. This may take about 3-5 minutes.
Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk. Begin and end with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
Pour the batter into the prepared pan, spreading it out evenly.
Bake in the preheated oven for 60-70 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean or with just a few crumbs clinging to it.
Allow the cake to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
