How to make 3 Quick & Easy Lachha Pyaz (Onion Salad) - From Spicy to Creamy
Preparation
Soak onion rings in water with ice cubes for 10-15 minutes to crisp them and reduce their sharpness. Drain and pat dry.
Divide the rings into equal portions, 1 cup each, for the Spicy Onion Lachha, Tadka Onion Lachha, and Creamy Onion Lachha.
Spicy Lachha Pyaz
Place onion rings in a mixing bowl.
Add degi mirch powder, chaat masala, black salt, black pepper powder, salt, and chopped green chilli. Drizzle with lemon juice and mustard oil. Sprinkle fresh coriander and toss until well combined.
Serve as a flavorful and refreshing side with biryani, tikkas, kebabs, or curries.
Tadka Lachha Pyaz
Place onion rings in a mixing bowl.
Add chilli flakes, chaat masala, coriander powder, black salt, roasted cumin powder, and salt. Mix well.
Heat oil in a small pan. Add cumin seeds and carom seeds, and let them splutter.
Pour the hot tempering over the onion mixture and toss well.
Sprinkle fresh coriander and drizzle with lemon juice. Mix gently and serve as a zesty accompaniment to biryani, tikka, kebab, or curries.
Creamy Lachha Pyaz
Place onion rings in a mixing bowl.
Add yogurt, cream, roasted cumin, black pepper, and salt. Mix well until the onions are evenly coated.
Garnish with fresh coriander and serve chilled as a cooling side dish with Indian meals and tandoori dishes.
Tips & Tricks
Use medium-sized, firm onions for the best texture.
Adjust tanginess, spiciness, and seasoning to taste.
Prepare Onion Salad fresh to retain its crisp texture and vibrant flavors.
