I am sharing this simple recipe that was taught to me by my grandmother, as a first-timer.

Ingredients
- 4cupsall-purpose flour
- 1tbspbaking powder
- 2tbspsugar
- 1tbspsalted butter
- 1/4tspsalt
- 351mLwarm water
- 1large egg
- 3Loil for deep frying
How to make Mandazi (Fried Bread)
Add all the dry ingredients and mix well.
Add butter and rub into the flour until you get a crumbly texture.
Add the egg and mix, then add water and continue working the dough for at least 4-5 minutes.
Cover the dough with clear wrap or foil and let it rest for at least 1-2 hours.
Cut the dough into 4 equal sized balls.
Pour the cooking oil into a pan and preheat to 190-200 degrees Celsius.
Roll each ball and cut into quarters, then deep fry them until golden brown.
Serve with hot tea.
