Ingredients

Chicken Wings

  • 1kg
    chicken wings
  • 1/2tsp
    salt
  • 1/4tsp
    ground black pepper
  • 2tbsp
    oyster sauce
  • 1tbsp
    Chinese Shaoxing Wine
  • 1piece
    egg
  • 1/2cup
    corn starch
  • 1/2cup
    tapioca starch
  • 1tsp
    baking powder
  • 3tbsp
    pumpkin seeds
  • some cooking oil

Honey Butter Sauce

  • 3tbsp
    unsalted butter
  • 2clove
    garlic
  • 1/4cup
    white or brown sugar
  • 2tsp
    soy sauce
  • 2tsp
    honey

How to make Sticky Honey Chicken Wings with Pumpkin Seeds

  1. Put all the chicken wings in a bowl and toss in the ground black pepper and salt. Let it rest for 20 minutes.

  2. Add the starch, flour, and baking powder to the bowl with the cracked egg. Mix until all chicken wings are well coated. Let it rest for 5 minutes.

  3. Heat up some cooking oil in a wok. Add the chicken wings and fry for 4-5 minutes or until the chicken is golden brown and crispy. Remove and set aside.

  4. Wait until the oil reaches the temperature again, put back the fried chicken wings into it and fry for another 1 to 2 minutes to make it extra crispy.

  5. Melt the butter in a wok and stir in the garlic until it becomes aromatic. Stir in sugar and soy sauce until completely dissolved. Add the honey and stir well until you see vigorous bubbles.

  6. Add the chicken wings and pumpkin seeds, mix well until the chicken wings are well coated with the sauce. Enjoy!

Tips & Tricks

  1. For extra crispiness, double fry the chicken wings.

  2. You can use either white or brown sugar for the sauce, depending on your preference.
