Ingredients

  • 1
    bowl boiled Githeri (mixture of beans and maize)
  • 1piece
    green pepper, chopped
  • 1piece
    tomato, chopped
  • 1cup
    water
  • 1piece
    red onion, chopped
  • 1tbsp
    peanut butter
  • 1tbsp
    margarine
  • 1pinch
    salt

How to make Githeri

  1. Melt the margarine in a saucepan.

  2. Add the onions and fry until soft.

  3. Add the tomatoes and stir well. Cook until fully mixed and soft.

  4. Add peanut butter and mix well.

  5. Pour in half a cup of water and stir thoroughly. Let it simmer for 5 minutes.

  6. Add the Githeri and stir, then add the green pepper and stir well.

  7. Add salt to taste and the rest of the water.

  8. Cook for 5 minutes. Serve.

Tips & Tricks

  1. For a richer flavor, you can use butter instead of margarine.

  2. Adjust the amount of peanut butter to your taste preference.
