    millet
  • 4cups
    water
  • 1cup
    yogurt
  • 2tbsp
    sugar
  • 1pinch
    salt

How to make Degue or Burkina

Preparation Steps

  1. Rinse the millet under cold water until the water runs clear.

  2. In a pot, bring the water to a boil.

  3. Add the rinsed millet to the boiling water and cook until the millet is soft.

  4. Once cooked, remove from heat and let it cool.

  5. In a bowl, mix the cooled millet with yogurt, sugar, and salt.

  6. Serve chilled or at room temperature.

Tips & Tricks

  1. For a creamier texture, you can add more yogurt.

  2. Feel free to adjust the sweetness by adding more or less sugar.
