- 2cupunroasted vermicelli
- 1tbspghee
- 3tbspoil
- 1/2tspred chilli powder
- 1tspgaram masala
- 1piececinnamon stick (1 inch)
- 4piecegreen cardamom
- 1tspcumin seeds
- 1tspmustard seeds
- 20sprigscurry leaves
- 1cupgrated carrot
- 1cupchopped capsicum
- 1cupchopped onion
- 1cupboiled peas and corn
- 4cupswater
- 1tspchana dal
- 1tspmaa dhuli dal
- salt to taste
How to make Vermicelli Upma
Prepare Vermicelli
Heat ghee and roast the vermicelli until golden.
Add water, bring to a boil, and strain the vermicelli.
Cook Vegetables and Spices
Heat 2 tbsp of oil, add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, and curry leaves.
Add onions and cook for 2-3 minutes.
Add all the vegetables one by one and continue sautéing.
Add all the spices and cook for 2 minutes.
Add the vermicelli and mix well.
Tempering
Heat the remaining oil, sauté green cardamom and cinnamon.
Add the dals, cook until golden brown, and add the tempering to the upma.
Tips & Tricks
Roast the vermicelli until it turns golden to enhance the flavor.
Adjust the spices according to your taste preference.
