Sharla Aalu / शरला आलू recipe

Ingredients

4 Servings
(1 serving = 1 cup)

Main Ingredients

  • 2tbsp
    mustard oil
  • 1
    onion, chopped
  • 1tbsp
    grated ginger
  • 1lb
    baby potatoes with skin, cut into halves
  • 2tbsp
    achaar ka masala
  • 1tsp
    aamchur powder (optional)
  • 1tsp
    salt
  • 1tsp
    red chilli powder
  • 1tsp
    turmeric
  • 2sprigs
    coriander leaves

How to make Sharla Aalu / शरला आलू

Cooking Instructions

  1. Heat mustard oil in a pan.

  2. Add chopped onion and grated ginger. Sauté until the onion turns golden brown.

  3. Add salt, red chilli powder, and turmeric. Mix well.

  4. Add the halved baby potatoes and stir to coat them with the spices.

  5. Add achaar ka masala and aamchur powder (if using). Mix thoroughly.

  6. Cover and cook on low heat until the potatoes are tender.

  7. Garnish with coriander leaves before serving.

Tips & Tricks

  1. Do not peel the baby potatoes to retain their unique flavor.
