Ingredients

(1 serving = 100 mL)
  • 500g
    Damask rose petals
  • 1 1/2kg
    sugar
  • 1/2in
    citric acid
  • 100g
    beetroot, chopped or grated
  • 1 1/2L
    water

How to make Magical Red Rose (Damask) Desi Gulab Syrup

  1. Rinse the rose petals thoroughly to remove any dirt or impurities.

  2. In a large pot, combine the rose petals, sugar, citric acid, beetroot, and water.

  3. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 30 minutes.

  4. Stir occasionally to ensure the sugar dissolves completely.

  5. Once the syrup thickens, remove it from heat and let it cool.

  6. Strain the syrup through a fine mesh sieve to remove the solids.

  7. Store the syrup in sterilized bottles and refrigerate.
