Ingredients

4 Servings
(1 serving = bowl)

Mango Mixture

  • 1/2kg
    raw sour mangoes
  • 750mL
    water

Spice Mixture

  • 1/2tbsp
    mustard oil
  • 1/6tsp
    heeng
  • 1/2tsp
    fenugreek seeds
  • 1/2tsp
    turmeric powder
  • 1/2tsp
    black pepper powder
  • 1tsp
    crushed fennel seeds
  • 1tsp
    black salt
  • 1tsp
    roasted cumin seeds powder
  • 1/4tsp
    red chilli powder
  • 3/4cup
    jaggery powder
  • 1sprig
    coriander leaves

How to make Jammu Wali Kache Aam Ki Khatti Meethi Mahni

Prepare Mango Mixture

  1. Wash the mangoes and pressure cook them with water until 6 whistles.

  2. Allow them to cool, then remove the skin and mash them properly.

Cook Spice Mixture

  1. Heat mustard oil in a pan and add fenugreek seeds, heeng, fennel seeds, black pepper powder, and turmeric powder.

  2. Keep the flame low and add the mango mixture and the remaining ingredients.

  3. Bring the mixture to a boil.

Tips & Tricks

  1. Adjust the black salt according to your taste.

  2. Serve the Mahni with rice or chapati for a complete meal.
