Ingredients

  • 20piece
    baby onions
  • 1piece
    green chilli
  • 1tbsp
    fennel seeds
  • 1tbsp
    salt
  • 1tsp
    degi mirch
  • 1/2tsp
    red chilli powder
  • 1tsp
    turmeric powder
  • 1tsp
    onion seeds
  • 1tsp
    aamchur powder
  • 2tbsp
    mustard oil
  • 1pinch
    asafoetida

How to make Chatpatta Pyaaz ka Achaar (Onion Pickle)

  1. Peel the baby onions and set them aside.

  2. Slice the green chilli.

  3. In a pan, heat mustard oil until it starts to smoke. Turn off the heat and let it cool slightly.

  4. Add fennel seeds, asafoetida, and sliced green chilli to the oil. Stir well.

  5. Add the baby onions to the pan and mix thoroughly.

  6. Sprinkle salt, degi mirch, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, onion seeds, and aamchur powder over the onions. Mix well to coat the onions evenly.

  7. Transfer the mixture to a clean jar and let it sit for a day to allow the flavors to develop.

Tips & Tricks

  1. Ensure the mustard oil is heated until it smokes to remove its raw flavor.

  2. Let the pickle sit for at least a day for the flavors to meld together.
