FAQS
What is the best way to store homemade kulfi for freshness?
To keep your homemade kulfi fresh, store it in an airtight container in the freezer. This will help maintain its creamy texture and prevent ice crystals from forming. It's best consumed within 1-2 weeks for optimal flavor.
Can I make kulfi without full-fat milk or substitute it with a dairy-free option?
Yes, you can substitute full-fat milk with coconut milk or almond milk for a dairy-free version of kulfi. However, keep in mind that the texture and creaminess may vary slightly, so choose a full-fat version of these alternatives for the best results.
What are some delicious toppings or pairings for kulfi?
Kulfi pairs wonderfully with a drizzle of chocolate or caramel sauce, and you can also top it with additional crushed nuts like pistachios or almonds for added crunch. Fresh fruits like mango or berries can also complement the dessert beautifully.
How long does it take for kulfi to set in the freezer?
Kulfi typically needs to set in the freezer for at least 6-8 hours, but for the best results, it's recommended to leave it overnight. This allows the flavors to meld and the texture to become perfectly creamy.
Is kulfi suitable for a vegan diet, and how can I modify the recipe?
Traditional kulfi is not vegan due to the use of full-fat milk. To make a vegan version, use coconut milk or cashew milk and replace sugar with a plant-based sweetener like agave syrup. This way, you can enjoy a creamy, dairy-free dessert!
