A classic Chinese dish featuring crispy pork in a tangy sweet and sour sauce with vegetables and pineapple.

Ingredients

  • 1lb
    pork tenderloin, cubed
  • 1piece
    bell pepper, diced
  • 1piece
    onion, diced
  • 1/4cup
    pineapple chunks
  • 1/4cup
    ketchup
  • 2tbsp
    vinegar
  • 2tbsp
    soy sauce
  • 1tbsp
    cornstarch mixed with 0.25 cup water
  • dash
    oil for frying

How to make Sweet and Sour Pork

  1. In a wok or large pan, heat oil and fry the pork until golden brown. Set aside.

  2. Sauté bell pepper and onion for 3 minutes.

  3. In a bowl, mix ketchup, vinegar, soy sauce, and pineapple.

  4. Add the sauce to the pan with vegetables, stir in the cornstarch mixture, and bring to a boil until thickened.

  5. Add the pork back in, stir well, and serve over rice.

Tips & Tricks

  1. For extra flavor, marinate the pork in soy sauce and a pinch of sugar for 15 minutes before frying.

  2. You can add other vegetables like carrots or snap peas for more variety.
