A flavorful steamed mackerel dish stuffed with a spicy coriander pesto and orange slices, perfect for a spicy seafood meal.
Ingredients
Pesto Stuffing
- 1bundlecoriander (leaves and stems)
- 2clovegarlic
- 2piecegreen chillies
- 1piecegreen capsicum
- 2tbspbutter
Fish
- 2piecemackerel
- 2piecepixie oranges
- 2tbspgochugaru chilli powder
- 2tbspoil
How to make Steamed Chilli Mackerel
Preparation
Preheat oven and place water in a shallow baking dish. Allow to heat.
Pesto Stuffing
Coarsely blend coriander (leaves and stems), garlic, green chillies, and green capsicum.
Add butter and mix well.
Fish Preparation
Slice pixie oranges to stuff the mackerel.
Clean your mackerel, pat dry, and score as you like.
Season the fish.
Stuff mackerel with the butter pesto and add orange slices. Use half slices if oranges are bigger than the fish cavity.
Cooking
Place fish on foil paper.
Drizzle a generous amount of gochugaru chilli powder, add oil, and wrap fish individually.
Place in the hot shallow water dish in the oven.
Cook for 4 minutes on each side.
Serving
Remove from oven and serve hot with rice.

Adjust the amount of gochugaru chilli powder based on your spice preference.
