How to make Spicy Honey-Glazed Chicken Wings
Prepare the Marinade
In a large mixing bowl, combine the chopped garlic, red onion, coriander, red wine vinegar, olive oil, dried mixed herbs, salt, pepper, and chili flakes. Mix well until all ingredients are thoroughly combined.
Add the chicken wings to the bowl of marinade, and coat them well, ensuring each wing is covered with the marinade. Let the wings marinate for at least 30 minutes to absorb the flavors. You can cover the bowl and place it in the refrigerator while marinating.
Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Add the marinated chicken wings in a single layer. Sear for about 2 minutes on each side until they turn golden brown.
Once browned, remove the wings from the pan and set aside. Drain any excess oil from the pan.
Glaze the Chicken with Honey
In a clean pan, pour in the honey over low heat. Allow it to warm up slightly until it becomes more fluid.
Add the browned chicken wings to the pan, and toss them in the honey to coat each wing evenly. Cook on low heat for 5 minutes, allowing the honey to caramelize and stick to the wings.
Add any remaining marinade to the pan, followed by the white wine.
Stir gently to combine, then cook over very low heat for about 15 minutes. Baste the wings occasionally, coating them in the syrupy sauce as the wine reduces.
Continue to cook until the sauce thickens and becomes a sticky glaze over the wings.
Transfer the glazed wings to a serving plate.
Sprinkle finely chopped spring onion and red chilies over the wings for a fresh, vibrant garnish.
Serve immediately and enjoy your spicy, sticky, honey-glazed chicken wings!
Tips & Tricks
For extra flavor, marinate the chicken wings overnight.
For extra-crispy skin, pat the wings dry with paper towels before browning. This removes excess moisture and helps them sear nicely in the oil, creating a better texture that holds up under the glaze.
When adding honey to the pan, keep the heat very low. Honey burns quickly, so cooking at a gentle heat helps it caramelize slowly without becoming bitter or sticky in the wrong way.
