Soft and Sweet Mandazis recipe

Ingredients

Mandazi Ingredients

  • 3cups
    all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2tsp
    baking powder
  • 1tsp
    margarine
  • 200mL
    milk
  • 1 1/2cup
    water
  • 4tbsp
    sugar
  • 1/2tsp
    salt
  • 1tsp
    ground cardamom
  • 1tsp
    ground cinnamon
  • 1can
    oil for frying

How to make Soft and Sweet Mandazis

Preparing the Dough

  1. Put the flour, salt, sugar, cardamom, baking powder, and cinnamon in a bowl and mix well.

  2. Melt the margarine and add to the mixture, mixing well.

  3. Warm the milk or water and add to the mixture little by little, kneading to get a soft and smooth dough.

  4. Cover and place in a warm place for 1 to 2 hours for best results, kneading after every 30 minutes.

Shaping and Frying

  1. Make four small balls and roll each, cutting into desired shapes.

  2. Heat the oil until it's hot and ready. To test, place a small piece of dough in the oil; it should immediately rise.

  3. Dip the shaped dough into the oil and turn, letting it cook until golden brown.
