How to make Steamed / Fried Dim Sums
Bring a small pot with some water to a boil. Place your bamboo steamer or rice strainer on top of the pot, closing the steamer with a lid. If you don't have a bamboo steamer, you may use a metal rice strainer.
Place a few dim sums in the steamer, ensuring they don’t touch each other to prevent sticking.
Steam them, covered with the lid, for about 8 minutes.
The dim sums will become slightly translucent and will come off the surface of the steamer once they are cooked through.
Another lovely way to enjoy dim sums, is to deep fry them straight after steaming. Heat a small pot with vegetable oil, make sure the oil is bubbling, then place your steamed dim sums into the hot oil & deep fry until golden brown.
Empty the dipping sauce into a small bowl, microwaive for about 30 seconds & serve on the side whilst the dim sums are still warm.
Tips & Tricks
Ensure the dim sums do not touch each other to prevent them from sticking together.
Steam directly from frozen. Do not defrost the dim sums.
