Chicken Chow Mein recipe

Ingredients

4 Servings
(1 serving = one portion)
  • 2piece
    chicken breasts, thinly sliced into strips
  • 2tbsp
    light soy sauce
  • 1tbsp
    sugar
  • 1tsp
    grated ginger
  • 1/2tsp
    grated garlic
  • 2tbsp
    oyster sauce
  • 3piece
    egg noodles
  • 1piece
    small onion, julienned
  • 1/2piece
    red pepper, julienned
  • 1/2piece
    yellow pepper, julienned
  • 1bundle
    small bunch pak choi, diagonally sliced
  • 3tbsp
    vegetable oil
  • 1tsp
    toasted sesame seeds

How to make Chicken Chow Mein

Cook the Noodles

  1. Boil egg noodles in water until al dente, drain, and set aside.

Stir-Fry the Chicken & Vegetables

  1. Heat oil in a wok or pan over high heat.

  2. Add chicken and stir-fry for 3–4 minutes until golden.

  3. Add the onions, red and yellow peppers.

  4. Add the noodles, garlic, and ginger.

  5. Add the soy sauce, oyster sauce, and sugar. Stir fry until everything is well combined and vegetables are still crunchy. Turn off the heat.

  6. Add pak choi and mix through.

Garnish & Serve

  1. Sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds and serve hot.

Tips & Tricks

  1. Ensure the wok or pan is very hot before adding the chicken to achieve a good sear.

  2. Do not overcook the vegetables; they should remain crunchy.
