Ingredients

4 Servings
(1 serving = 1 cup)
  • 4tbsp
    oil
  • 1tsp
    zeera
  • 1piece
    small onion, sliced
  • 1tsp
    garlic paste
  • 2 1/2cups
    peas
  • 2cups
    rice
  • salt to taste
  • water as required

How to make Simple Easy and Quick Matar Pulao

  1. Heat oil in a pan and sprinkle in the zeera.

  2. Add the sliced onion and cook until transparent.

  3. Add garlic paste and sauté briefly.

  4. Include peas, salt, and water. Cook on low flame for five minutes or until the oil separates from the water.

  5. Add rice and fry for a minute.

  6. Add water, cover with a lid, and cook on medium heat until done.

  7. Give dum (steam) for a few minutes before serving.

Tips & Tricks

  1. To reduce calories, pre-boil rice until 1/4th done, strain the water, and then cook as required. This method removes most of the starch.

  2. Using chicken stock will enhance the taste. If using chicken stock, reduce the amount of salt as the stock contains salt.

  3. For weight loss, try using 12 heaped tablespoons of rice and as many peas as you like per meal.
