For potatoes

  • 1kg
    Potato (peeled and cubed)
  • 1/2cup
    Oil

For dahi walay aaloo pyaz

  • 1/4cup
    Oil
  • 1tbsp
    Cumin seeds
  • 3piece
    Red whole chilli
  • 1tbsp
    Red chili powder
  • 1tbsp
    Coriander powder
  • 1tsp
    Red chili flakes
  • 1/2tsp
    Turmeric powder
  • 1tsp
    Salt
  • 1tbsp
    Cumin powder
  • 450g
    Yogurt
  • 2cups
    Onion (cubed)
  • 1tbsp
    Coriander leaves

How to make Simple Dahi Aaloo Pyaz ki Subzi

Preparing the potatoes

  1. Boil potatoes until 70% done.

  2. Heat oil and fry the potatoes for 5 minutes, then set aside.

Cooking the dahi walay aaloo pyaz

  1. Heat oil and add cumin seeds and red whole chillies. Fry for 30 seconds.

  2. Add all dry spices and fry for a minute.

  3. Add yogurt and cook for 3-4 minutes.

  4. Add potatoes and cubed onions and cook for 15 minutes.

  5. Garnish with coriander leaves.

Tips & Tricks

  1. Ensure the potatoes are not fully cooked when boiling to prevent them from becoming too soft during frying.

  2. Adjust the amount of red chili powder and flakes according to your spice preference.
