A hearty and flavorful lamb/mutton shepherd's pie with a savory mince filling and creamy mashed potato topping.
Ingredients
Mince Mixture

- 1/2kglamb/mutton mince
- 3clovegarlic
- 1/2tspdried thyme
- 1tspred chili powder
- 1/2tspsalt
- 1tbspsoy sauce
- 1tbspfresh parsley
- 2tbsptomato paste
- 1tspblack pepper
- 1/4cupgreen peas
- 2tbspmaida
- 1cupyakhni
Mashed Potato
- 750gpotatoes
- 1/2cupcheddar cheese
- 1tspblack pepper
- 1tspsalt
- 2pieceegg yolks
- 1/2cuplukewarm milk
For Layering
- 1/4cupcheddar cheese
- 1/4cupmozzarella cheese
- 1pinchred chili crushed
How to make Shepherd's Pie
Prepare Mince Mixture
Heat oil in a pan. Add chopped onions and sauté until translucent.
Add lamb mince and cook until the color changes.
Grate garlic and add to the pan. Cook for 2 minutes.
Add thyme, red chili powder, salt, soy sauce, and fresh parsley. Mix well and cook for 5 minutes.
Stir in tomato paste and black pepper. Add chopped carrots and peas, and mix again.
Sprinkle maida and pour in yakhni. Mix and cook for 10 minutes. Set aside.
Prepare Mashed Potatoes
Combine boiled and grated potatoes, grated cheddar cheese, salt, black pepper, egg yolks, and lukewarm milk. Mix well until smooth.
Assemble and Bake
In an oven-safe serving dish, layer the mince mixture.
Top with mashed potatoes and sprinkle with cheddar and mozzarella cheese.
Optionally, sprinkle with crushed red chili.
Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for 20-25 minutes.
