How to make Nutella Puff Pastry Christmas Tree
Preparation
Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F). Thaw the puff pastry for about 2 hours or until it's easy to work with.
Assembly
Unfold two sheets of puff pastry. Place one on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet.
Spread Nutella evenly over the puff pastry using a spatula or butter knife.
Lay the second puff pastry sheet on top of the Nutella.
Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, cut the outline of a Christmas tree.
Use a star cookie cutter to cut 2-3 stars from the scraps and set them aside.
Cut 1-inch strips on the sides of the tree and twist each strip away from you.
Place a star on top of the tree.
Baking
Mix the egg with milk or heavy cream and brush the tree with the egg wash.
Bake in the preheated oven for 20-30 minutes or until golden brown.
Sprinkle powdered sugar on top for a snowy look. Serve hot.
Tips & Tricks
Thaw the puff pastry in advance. Take it out of the freezer an hour or two before making this.
Keep an eye on the top of the pastry while baking to prevent burning.
Customize by adding your favorite flavors and add-ins like chopped nuts or different spreads.
Make it savory by using fillings like cheese, pesto, or olives instead of Nutella.
If the Nutella is hard to spread, microwave it for 20-30 seconds.
