Maine Lobster Rolls recipe

Ingredients

10 Servings
(1 serving = 1 lobster roll)

Lobster Salad

  • 2lb
    cooked Maine lobster meat
  • 1/4cup
    mayonnaise
  • 1tbsp
    fresh chopped dill
  • 1tbsp
    fresh chopped parsley
  • 1/2tsp
    salt
  • 1/2tsp
    garlic powder
  • 1/4tsp
    black pepper

Rolls

  • 10piece
    New England style frankfurter rolls
  • 5tbsp
    butter softened

How to make Maine Lobster Rolls

For the Lobster Salad

  1. Drain the cooked lobster meat in a colander for 5 minutes.

  2. Set out a large mixing bowl and chop the fresh herbs.

  3. If using claw meat, there is no need to chop it, but you can if you want smaller pieces. If using lobster tails, chop them into bite-size pieces.

  4. Move the lobster meat to the mixing bowl and add the mayonnaise, dill, parsley, salt, garlic powder, and pepper. Mix well.

  5. Cover and chill until ready to serve.

For the Toasted Rolls

  1. Spread both flat sides of the New England rolls with a generous amount of butter.

  2. Heat a large skillet or griddle to medium heat. Place the rolls flat-side-down in the skillet.

  3. Toast for 1-3 minutes until golden-brown. Then flip and toast the other side for 1-3 minutes.

  4. Remove and repeat as needed.

  5. Once all of the rolls are perfectly toasted, load them with lobster salad and serve.

Tips & Tricks

  1. For a more intense flavor, let the lobster salad chill for at least an hour before serving.

  2. Ensure the skillet is properly heated to achieve a perfect golden-brown toast on the rolls.
