How to make Classic Bacon Cheeseburger

Prepare the Bun

  1. Spread softened butter onto the bottom and top buns and season with garlic salt.

  2. Toast the buns on a frying pan or skillet, butter side down, over medium heat until lightly golden.

  3. Place one slice of American cheese over the bottom bun to melt and set aside.

Cook the Bacon

  1. Increase the heat to medium-high and cook the bacon for 2 to 3 minutes on each side.

  2. Transfer the cooked bacon onto a plate lined with paper towels to absorb the excess grease.

Prepare the Patty

  1. Shape the ground beef into a round and then flatten, being careful not to overwork the meat.

  2. Sprinkle the top heavily with salt and pepper.

Cook the Patty

  1. After cooking the bacon, place the patty into the pan, seasoned side down.

  2. Season the other side and cook over medium-high heat for 3 to 4 minutes per side.

  3. At the last minute of cooking, add the remaining slice of American cheese to melt it.

  4. Transfer the patty onto a serving plate and let it rest for 5 minutes.

Assemble the Burger

  1. Place the bottom bun on a plate.

  2. Top it with the patty, followed by the bacon and lettuce.

  3. Spread the top bun with ketchup and yellow mustard.

  4. Stick the onions and pickles into the condiments.

  5. Close the burger and enjoy!

Tips & Tricks

  1. For extra flavor, you can add a dash of Worcestershire sauce to the ground beef before shaping the patty.
